Haufe Appoints Christian Garrels as Director of Communications


Freiburg, December 15, 2020 – In its efforts to restructure corporate communications, Haufe Group SE has appointed Christian Garrels as Director of Branding, Communications and Sustainability. Garrels is 45 years old and will start his new position at the Freiburg based company on January 1, 2021 reporting to CEO Birte Hackenjos.

His upcoming tasks include internal and external company communications, corporate branding as well as the areas of sustainability and stakeholders’ interests. The new position was created to achieve a higher level of relevance and effectiveness of all communicative activities at Haufe going forward.

Birte Hackenjos, CEO of Haufe Group SE, says, "Christian Garrels is an extremely adept, highly qualified communications expert with many years of experience in the media, technology, and mobility business. Given his extraordinary expertise, he will assist us in repositioning Haufe Group both in terms of strategic brand leadership as well as in all matters concerning the latest, fully integrated 360° communication channels."

Over the past, Christian Garrels has held different leadership positions, e.g., at ADAC (Europe’s largest motoring association, based in Germany), the publishing house Axel Springer and mass media company ProSiebenSat.1. Most recently, he worked as an independent corporate and communications consultant.
