The readers of Personalmagazin have voted Frauke von Polier, Chief People Officer at the Viessmann Group, "CHRO of the Year 2022". She thus wins the audience award of the HR community.

HR issues are gaining in importance in many companies. A shortage of skilled workers, new forms of work and transformation are challenges that most companies are currently dealing with. Which HR manager is currently doing this best? Personalmagazin, the market-leading magazine for HR professionals, called on its readers to vote for the "CHRO of the Year". Around 7,900 readers of Personalmagazin took part in the online voting - around 60 percent more than last year. There were six CHROs to choose from - four women and two men from companies such as Axa, Bayer, Continental, Thyssenkrupp and Viessmann. Frauke von Polier, Chief People Officer at the Viessmann Group, was the winner with 33 percent of the votes. Reiner Straub, publisher of Personalmagazin, and Kai Anderson, Head of Transformation at Mercer and cooperation partner of the award, presented the prize on the evening of 3 November 2022 in Berlin.

Crossing borders between start-up and industrial culture
Frauke von Polier has been working in human resources management for 20 years. In March 2021, she took on the role of Chief People Officer at the medium-sized Viessmann Group, which is characterised by industrial culture and sales. The company is in the midst of a transformation from a manufacturer of boilers to a provider of sustainable climate solutions and heat pumps. It has a prominent role to play in achieving the climate targets. Frauke von Polier's task is to shape this transformation in terms of personnel policy. This includes the renewal of the corporate culture as well as the further qualification of the employees. "Frauke von Polier moderates between tradition and departure. She combines her experience from the start-up world with traditional industrial culture, which is expressed in a hybrid work culture that is progressive for medium-sized companies," says Personalmagazin editor Reiner Straub. The border crosser recently generated a lot of attention with a fresh advertising campaign for apprenticeships. "Frauke von Polier is the representative of a new generation of CHROs who combines empathy with business acumen and thus makes the new world of work a reality," says Kai Anderson Mercer, cooperation partner of the award.

From Bertelsmann, via Otto, Zalando and SAP to Viessmann
Frauke von Polier began her career in 2001 as an executive assistant at Bertelsmann. From there she moved to recruiting at the Otto Group and eventually took over as head of the department. At the online retailer Zalando, as Senior Vice President People & Organisation, she accompanied the development from a start-up to a well-known fashion platform and made a name for herself as a new worker. After interim positions at SAP and in consulting, she took over the position of Chief People Officer at the medium-sized Viessmann Group based in Allendorf (Eder) in northern Hesse in March 2021. As a board member of the start-up "Hey Jobs", she remains connected to the Berlin start-up scene and is an unmistakable voice in the HR community.
